Education Committee

The Education Committee is the committee in charge of overseeing and improving your education

The HHUS Education Committee consists of the President, Vice-President and three Education Monitors. They work together to uphold the quality of our education at the Umeå School of Business and Economics, (Handelshögskolan vid Umeå Universitet). A vital part of the Education Committee is of course the student representatives which are present in all classes!

Student representatives are an important link in the chain that continuously report what happens in classrooms. The purpose of these student representatives is to give every student a voice. This voice is heard and passed onto the Education Monitors. You can also turn to your Education Monitors with most issues regarding your education. They are the people responsible for ensuring that the quality of YOUR education is maintained and continually improved, because YOU have the right to affect your education!

The five members of the Education Committee work with a large variety of tasks, for you and your education. The members of the committee represent the students in meetings with teachers, faculties and institutions. The President of the Education Committee is also a member of the USBE board, the faculty’s highest governing body. The Education Monitors, along with Student Representatives, help better the education at the institutional level, in the Institution Program Board.

The committee promote and solve issues to improve your education, as well as organize events linked to education. They receive questions that you as a student, encounter during your study period, and forward them onto the university. The committee also works strongly with Shout It Out, a forum for you to anonymously submit issues regarding your education, to ensure that every student has a voice. The President of the Education Committee, along with the President of HHUS, represent and better the organization at a national level; through U9. U9 is a collaboration between the nine major economist associations and unions in Sweden. These 9 school representatives meet four times a year to help each other and share ideas to better your education further. Furthermore, the committee work closely with the student representative from the union (Umeå Studentkår). More information on this is under the tab “Education Monitor” to the left. The Education Committee of HHUS have the tools necessary to create change!

It is you, the student, who can influence your own and your colleagues’ study time by highlighting your opinions. Your voice is imperative for the Education Committee. To enable the committee to significantly improve the quality and value of your education, you must ensure that YOUR voice heard. Remember to use Shout It Out, complete course evaluations at the completion of courses, and turn to your class representatives or ANY member of the Education Committee.

Please do not hesitate to contact the committee if you have any questions about the Education Committee’s work or questions regarding your education!

Together, we can increase the value of our education, the school’s brand, and most importantly your personal brand!
