• Make sure you have been accepted and said YES to your spot!.

• Please see the Rookie Guide to find detailed information on how to apply for accommodation.

• Bring a bike. Umeå is a biking city, you can get from anywhere to everywhere with a bike. People tend to bike here all year round. It is specially handy if you live far away from campus.

• Stock up on food for the first week. The first week of Insparken will be filled with many activities, both day and night. Having ready made meals or lunchboxes will save you a lot of time.

• Have some spare money. During insparken, you will have the chance to purchase the rookie package. We recommend to at least have 1,500 SEK available to cover the rookie package (which costs 970 SEK) and other expenses that occur. The rookie package will give you access to all the nightly (entrance fees might still occur) and daily activities for the next couple of weeks, a one-year membership to Umeå Studentkår (and HHUS) and of course some other surprises, but we don’t want to ruin any surprises before you get here!

• A white sheet for the toga party. You do not have to worry about tying your own toga, we know it’s hard enough the first year. There will be people who can help.

• An outfit that fits the theme: Who is your hero? Could be a soccer player, superhero or anyone else you see as a hero!

• A completely pink outfit. The more pink the better. This includes a shirt, pants/skirt/bottoms and accessories. We encourage you all to go crazy with your outfit ideas to really show the HHUS spirit (Pink is our colour!). Wigs, makeup and body colouring are encouraged and appreciated!

• A festival outfit. Pack those denim shorts, floral or printed shirts, tank tops, crop tops and maxi dresses. Go for color, glitter, and creativity like neon, tie-dye, fringe, and flowers. Accessories are appreciated like sunglasses, flower crowns and face glitter

• Formal wear for the last night. At the end of these 7 weeks we will be celebrating that you have finally become a real initiated student of Umeå university, and this will be done in an extravagant fashion, long dresses or dark lounge suits is a must!

HHUS has a zero-tolerance policy towards discriminatory and illegal behaviour including but not limited to narcotics, violent behaviour, peer pressure and sexual harassment, which also includes all sexual relations between fadders and rookies. In the work toward our zero vision, we have implemented this whistle-blower function, to simplify the process of reporting and creating a more comprehensive approach towards a safer and more inclusive environment for everyone.
